WESTPORT, CT : Accident Sunday closes Merritt Parkway in Westport on Sunday, November 27th 2016
The northbound lane of the Merritt Parkway was closed Sunday evening for an hour following a three vehicle accident that sent six people to the hospital, with three suffering “serious” injuries, firefighters said.
The accident occurred at 7:42 p.m. between Exits 41 and 42 on the parkway and involved two cars and a tow truck. Westport Assistant Fire Chief Michael Kronick said state police were on the scene when the fire department arrived and the injured were out of their vehicles.
Three people with serious injuries, and three with non-life threatening injures, were taken to Norwalk Hospital for treatment, he said.
Kronick said the accident shut down the northbound lane, causing numerous delays in the area. Westport firefighters assisted with cleaning debris from the accident and the last fire units cleared the scene at 8:52 p.m., he said.
