Savannah, GA : A single-vehicle crash on Interstate 16 on Sunday, January, 21st 2018

Savannah-Chatham police’s Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 16 that resulted in the death of a Statesboro man on Sunday.

Timothy Sapp, 44, was traveling west on Interstate 16 when he lost control of his 1997 Toyota Corolla just past the Chatham Parkway exit at about 9:40 a.m., police spokeswoman Bianca Johnson said.

The vehicle crashed into a tree. Sapp was pronounced dead at the scene.
