BUTTE COUNTY, CA : 1 dead, 1 injured after crash on Highway 99 on Saturday, 30th September 2023

A deadly car crash on Highway 99, near Toland Road, in Butte County, killed one and injured another.

CHP told Action News Now the crash happened after a car was going north on Highway 99 and had crossed lanes into oncoming traffic while trying to pass a big rig.

The head on collision happened around 11 a.m. and killed a young woman.

CHP says the driver of the northbound SUV who caused the crash is 31-year-old Sierra Miguel from Arcata.

Miguel was transported to a hospital with major injuries but is in stable condition.

A baby in the back of Miguel's car that was restrained in a car seat was also sent to the hospital with minor to no injuries.
