Stanford, CA : Redwood City man dies in head-on crash on Junipero Serra Boulevard just south of Campus Drive on Saturday, Oct 17, 2015

A 45-year-old Redwood City man died after the car he was driving drifted into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into another car, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The driver of the other car, Louise Paustenbach, 64, of Redwood City, suffered serious injuries and is being treated at a hospital, Officer Arturo Montiel said. The name of the deceased driver was not released, pending notification of family.

The collision occurred about 7 p.m. Saturday on Junipero Serra Boulevard just south of Campus Drive, Montiel said. Witnesses told investigators that a 2009 Nissan Versa traveling southbound veered into the northbound lanes and crashed into a Volkswagen Passat, driven by Paustenbach. Both drivers had no passengers, Montiel said.
