A Lafayette College student died following an accident in Mexico shortly after finishing his sophomore year at the Easton school.
Joe Kirkpatrick, from Galena, Maryland, was 20 years old.
He and his freshman roommate, former Lafayette student Luis Balaguer Escobar, were riding off-road vehicles in Ensenada, Mexico, when the accident occurred May 19, according to The Lafayette student newspaper.
An experienced rider, and accompanied by two professional off-road racers, Kirkpatrick with his friend were about five and a half hours into a journey when he crashed the all-terrain vehicle, the report states.
Kirkpatrick was known for his appreciation of life and of nature, a love of music, his knowledge of diverse topics and his openness with others, according to The Lafayette.
He co-hosted the radio show "Late Night, Low Fidelity" with Slater Stark, a fellow member of the Leopards' Class of 2019, on Lafayette's WJRH.
His remains were interred last month in Galena Cemetery near where he grew up, his obituary states.
Kirkpatrick's death came about two months after Lafayette junior Amanda Miner was killed in a car crash March 16, while home for spring break in New York City.
