Sycamore Township, OH : NKY motorcyclist killed in a two-vehicle crash on Plainfield Road on Thursday night, August 4, 2016

A Northern Kentucky motorcyclist was killed Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash on Plainfield Road in Sycamore Township, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department.

Thomas J. Karnes, 49, of Sparta, Kentucky, was thrown from his motorcycle in the 8500 block of Plainfield Road about 7:30 p.m., the sheriff's office said in a news release.

A 1998 Honda Accord driven by Eric G. Wietmarschen, 26, of Cincinnati, attempted a left turn in front of Karnes, whose 1998 Harley Davidson hit the Honda.

Karnes, who wasn't wearing a helmet, was eventually taken by medical helicopter to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, police said.

Speed, alcohol and drugs aren't considered factors in the crash. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit is still investigating the crash.
