Waelder, TX: Monday afternoon crash kills 3 on Monday, July 20th 2015

Three travelers from Houston were killed Monday when they lost control of their sedan and crossed the median on Interstate 10, colliding with an 18-wheeler.The Texas Highway Patrol reported that at 12:30 p.m. Monday, 27-year-old Anny Vu, 29-year-old Nhan Tang and 19-year-old Hoai Nguyen were travelling westbound on I-10 near the Waelder Shell station when their 2007 Kia Spectra sedan lost control and veered into the median, under the barrier cables and into the eastbound, inside lane.A 2015 Freightliner 18-wheeler driven by 26-year-old Calvin Chambers and 25-year-old Yaw Nacoh, both of Springfield, Mo., was heading east when the sedan slid into their path, causing the 18-wheeler to collide with the sedan. The impact sent the sedan careening into the median, ejecting the driver and back seat passenger. The 18-wheeler then skidded sideways before jackknifing and coming to a rest on the shoulder.First responders found Vu, Tang and Nguyen dead at the scene. Chambers and Yaw were reported to be uninjured.
