AUBURNDALE, FL : 2-vehicle crash kills Auburndale man on Friday, 14th October 2016
An Auburndale man was killed early today after his vehicle slammed into the rear of a semi-trailer on County Road 557A, reports said.
Raymond Charles Addison, 69, of 4576 Ryan Thomas Blvd., suffered fatal injuries from the crash, which happened at about 5 a.m. in front of Fantasy of Flight. Polk County Fire Rescue attempted to help him, according to the Auburndale Police Department, but he died at the scene.
The APD said Joseph Cono Cammarano, 68, of North Port, was trying to find the entrance to Interstate 4 after getting diverted onto CR 557A.
He missed his turn to get onto State Road 559, which would take him to I-4, and attempted to make a U-turn on CR 557A, reports said.
As he was making the U-turn, Addison, who was heading west on CR 557A in a Chevrolet Silverado, struck the rear of the semi-trailer.
When APD officers arrived, they saw that the semi-trailer was across the eastbound and westbound lanes, with the Silverado under the rear portion of the semi-trailer, reports said.
Cammarano was not injured in the crash.
Auburndale police traffic homicide investigators are investigating the crash, and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
