Jackson, MI : Two bicyclists were killed in a vehicle crash at Wamplers Lake Road on Saturday, 8th October, 2016
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has released the names of two bicyclists killed Friday in a vehicle crash in the southeastern part of the county.
Deborah A. Patterson, 62, and Mary K. Massengill, 66, were heading east on Wamplers Lake Road, M-124, near Pink Street when an eastbound Mercury Sable struck them as they biked in the designated lane or shoulder
area, according to the sheriff's office.
Both women, who live near Wamplers Lake, were wearing helmets, Undersheriff Chris Kuhl wrote in an email.
The Sable was driven by a 76-year-old man who was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation, Kuhl wrote.
Early information shows the car left its lane and crossed the fog line, the white marking at the right edge of the driving lane, and hit the bicyclists.
