A motorcyclist was killed Monday when he ran into the back of a box truck in southwest Charlotte.
The crash happened just before 6:30 p.m. on the 3100 block of Yorkmont Road. Police said the driver of a motorcycle struck the rear end of a box truck and was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where they were pronounced deceased.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
Investigators said that speed appears to have played a role in the wreck, and that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
The victim's name has not been released, pending family notification.
