Pike Township, OH : 61-year-old man hit by car, injured on SR 800 in Stark County on Wednesday morning, Sep 23, 2015

A 61-year-old man is in critical condition after a vehicle struck him Wednesday morning.

At 7:20 a.m., William B. Mangeris, of East Sparta, was walking south on State Route 800 when a 2011 Chevy Cruze traveled off the right side of the road and hit him.

Authorities say the driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Dakota Beck, also of East Sparta, is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Mangeris was taken to Aultman Hospital. Beck suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at the hospital.

No charges have been filed.

The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating.
