Albany,LA : Maurepas man killed in three-vehicle crash in Ascension Parish on October, Tuesday 10th 2017
A Livingston Parish man was killed Tuesday night in Ascension Parish after his compact car ran head-on into a large truck, and was then struck a second time by an oncoming car, Louisiana State Police said Wednesday.
David Day, 21, of Maurepas, crossed the centerline of Weber City Road in Gonzales around 8 p.m. Tuesday and drove into the path of a westbound 2005 International just east of Airline Highway, troopers said in a news release.
Also known as La. 429, Weber City Road east of Airline is a winding, dark, two-lane road that runs along New River Bayou. Troopers said they are still investigating why Day crossed the centerline.
But once Day's 2013 Honda Civic ran into the International, the car began to rotate and was hit a second time by a car, a 2015 Subaru WRX, troopers said.
Day, who was wearing his seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ascension Parish Coroner's Office, troopers said.
The driver of the truck, Kyle Cornett, 23, of Ragley, and the driver of the Subaru, Raymond Farr, 27, of Gonzales, were not injured, troopers said.
Troopers said they don't know if impairment was a factor in the crashes but said blood samples were taken from all three drivers for toxicological analysis.
