Georgetown, DE : Benadigto Bonilla-Berduo, 19, killed in High-Speed Crash on U.S. Route 9 in Georgetown on Thursday, February 12, 2015
Police say alcohol and speed are factors in a one-car crash that killed a Delaware teenager.
Delaware State Police say 19-year-old Benadigto Bonilla-Berduo was apparently speeding on U.S. Route 9 in Georgetown when he failed to negotiate a moderate right curve just after 1:00 a.m. Thursday.
Police say the Georgetown teen's car then crossed into the oncoming lanes of traffic and left the roadway before he over-corrected, leaving the opposite roadway. Police say Bonilla-Berduo over-corrected a second time, sending his car spinning.
Police say his car hit a utility pole, snapping the pole in half and vaulting the car into the air before it landed upside-down.
Bonilla-Berduo wasn't wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. He died at the scene.
