76-year-old Minnesota man crashed his speeding ATV and died about eight miles northeast of Sisseton just after sunset Sunday, the South Dakota Highway Patrol reports.
Clarence Pistorius, of Browns Valley, rolled the 2012 Polaris four-wheeler after the driver’s side tires hit the soft dirt of the rural road’s shoulder, the patrol said. That caused Pistorius to lose control of the ATV, said the patrol, and it went into the ditch and rolled 1½ times. He was pinned underneath the ATV and died at the scene, the patrol said.
Speed appeared to be a factor and he was not wearing a helmet, the patrol said.
