El Paso, TN : Motorcyclist seriously injured in collision in East El Paso on Monday, February 6, 2017

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday after he collided with a truck in East El Paso.

The El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigation unit responded at 4:10 p.m. to assist officers from the Pebble Hills Regional Command Center.

Ricardo Del Real, 35, was driving an orange 2016 Suzuki motorcycle south on the 1300 block of Bob Hope Drive when a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by Griselda Gomez, 36, that was traveling north on Bob Hope allegedly made a left turn in front of the Suzuki, causing the motorcycle to collide with the Avalanche, police said.

Del Real sustained serious injuries and was transported to Del Sol Medical Center for treatment. His current condition was not immediately available.

Police said failure to yield is a contributing factor in the crash.

The investigation continues.
