CENTRAL VALLEY, UT : Two hurt in weekend accidents on State Route 118 on Saturday, December, 9th 2017
One person was injured in an accident on State Route 118 Saturday night near Central Valley.
Leslie Abraham, 58, Central Valley, was driving at 2016 Ram 1500 pickup south when it slammed into the rear of a backhoe, which was driving at approximately 25 mph, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
The rear bucket of the backhoe severely damaged the truck.
Abraham and a 6-year-old passenger were both wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
The Richfield Fire Department was dispatched to help extricate Abraham from the truck.
Abraham was injured and transported to a Wasatch Front area hospital for treatment.
The passenger in the truck was uninjured, according to the UHP. The driver of the backhoe, David Brown, 67, Central Valley, had minor injuries.
The fire department responded to a second accident Sunday night on Interstate 70 near Salina.
In the second accident involved a 2017 Freightliner semi with a trailer that rolled over.
The driver, Tony Orton, 65, Richfield, was extricated and transported to Sevier Valley Hospital in Richfield for treatment of injuries.
He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
