Ogden,UT : Driver booked on DUI charge after truck crashes into Ogden River on May,Monday 28th 2018

Police say an intoxicated Davis County man crashed into one of Ogden Canyon’s cement barriers Monday afternoon, sending his truck flying into the river.

At 4 p.m. Monday, May 28, the Weber County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report that a 1997 Black Ford F250 had crashed in the canyon, landing in the Ogden River.

A 27-year-old male had been driving eastbound on State Route 39 near a curve a 311 East when he crossed into oncoming traffic, hit the cement barrier and “launched his truck into the air,” Weber County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Streker said.

The truck went through the trees, knocking a few over, and landed on all four tires into the river, about 20 feet down from the road, he said.

The driver was not injured, but was booked into the Weber County Jail on a DUI charge.

“He was very lucky,” Streker said.

Ogden Canyon was closed to traffic for around 30 minutes while the truck was pulled from the river.
