El Dorado, AR : Local man injured after collision on U.S. 82 at Jerry Hill on Monday, June 13, 2016
A Union County man remained hospitalized in Little Rock Wednesday, where he is being treated for extensive injuries he sustained after his pick-up truck collided with an 18-wheeler earlier this week.
Cole Pratt was transported by ambulance Monday to Medical Center of South Arkansas and was later transferred to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
Pratt was listed in critical condition Wednesday at UAMS, a hospital spokesperson said. Family and friends have set up a Facebook page — Prayers for Cole Pratt — and are offering updates on his medical condition.
Arkansas State Police said the accident, which occurred on U.S. 82 at Jerry Hill between Urbana and Hope Landing, is still under investigation.
Trooper Justin Harmon said the accident was reported just after 4 p.m.
Harmon said Pratt was traveling east on U.S. 82 when he lost control of his pickup truck and swerved the eastbound lane and into the path of an oncoming commercial vehicle.
Harmon noted that it was raining at the time, and Pratt was driving too fast for weather conditions.
The state trooper said that when he arrived on the scene, Pratt’s pickup was in the eastbound lane, and the 18-wheeler was in the westbound lane.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured, Harmon said.
He declined to release further details about the accident, citing the ongoing investigation.
