Ashland man dies in Route 11 accident; others injured in Presque Isle Maine
Ashland police are investigating a single-vehicle accident that left an Ashland man dead on Wednesday, Nov. 6.Joey Clark, 34, was killed "on impact," according to Sgt. Jarad Carney of the Ashland Police Department. Clark was one of five passengers in a pickup truck driven by Myles Bolstridge, 22, also of Ashland, Carney said during a phone call Thursday, Nov. 7.Bolstridge was driving north on Maine Route 11 shortly before 11 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, went off the road and struck a telephone pole, approximately three miles south of town, according to Carney.Bolstridge and the passengers were transported to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle. Bolstridge and Jessica Campbell, 20, a University of Presque Isle student, were later transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center. Carney said that Campbell was listed in fair condition, and Bolstridge was listed in good condition as of Thursday afternoon.
Royce MacDonald, 21, and Cody Levesque, 21, both of Ashland, and another UMPI student, 20-year old Taylor Cochran were treated at TAMC and later released, according to the sergeant. As of Thursday afternoon, authorities could not confirm the residencies of the two UMPI students.The call to Ashland police came via 911 from another driver who came upon the accident shortly after it happened, said Carney.Responding to the scene were Carney, the Ashland fire and ambulance departments, Crown Ambulance and the Masardis Fire Department, according to Carney. Also on scene to assist were the Aroostook County Sheriff's office and the U.S. Border Patrol.
Carney is leading the investigation. Trooper Rob Flynn of the Maine State Police is assisting with crash reconstruction.
