Sedgwick County, KS : Man ID’d in fatal rollover crash near Pawnee, 151st Street West on Thursday June 19th 2014

One person was killed and another was injured in a one-vehicle rollover crash that authorities now say occurred early Thursday morning.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m., Sedgwick County sheriff’s deputies were sent to an accident in the 15500 block of West Pawnee, Lt. Dave Mattingly said in a statement. That’s just west of 151st Street West.

When they arrived, they found a 2008 Dodge in a soybean field about 200 yards from Pawnee. A 39-year-old woman was lying next to the pickup and a 34-year-old man had been partially ejected in the rollover crash, Mattingly said.

The man, identified as Shaun Rayl, was dead at the scene. The woman was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment of relatively minor injuries.

She was a passenger in the pickup and was ejected in the crash, Mattingly said. A Sedgwick County dispatcher said she was the person who called 911 to report the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Mattingly said.
