Cartersville, GA : Major motorcycle wreck sends five to hospital on May, Saturday, 20th 2017
Four Bartow County emergency response agencies responded Saturday at 12:13 p.m. to an accident involving numerous motorcycles on Highway 411, just north of Interstate 75.
The accident involved participants of the Bikers Against?Child Abuse Inc.’s 100-mile ride. The ride began at Southern Devil Harley-Davidson, 2281 Highway 411 N.E. in Cartersville, and as a result, there was a large convoy of motorcycles on the road.
Bartow County EMS had three ambulances respond due to the number of patients. Five were sent to the hospital as a result of the incident.
EMS crews found two patients with severe injuries and requested two medical helicopters.
The first patient was a male with abdominal and chest trauma with possible internal bleeding. AirLife transported this patient to Grady Hospital. The second patient, a female, was found to have a fractured pelvis.
LifeForce transported the female to Atlanta Medical Center.
BCEMS transported the third patient, a male, to Cartersville Medical?Center for shoulder, knee and back pain.
The fourth patient, a female, was transported by BCEMS to CMC for back and rib pain.
The fifth patient, a male, was transported to CMC with ankle pain.
Numerous other motorcyclists were involved in the accident and wished to not be transported to the hospital by ambulance.
The accident resulted in Highway 411 being shut down for a short period of time.
