Portland, OR: Motorcyclist injured in I-5 crash expected to survive on Friday, July 24th 2015
A motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash that shut down the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near the Rose Quarter Friday evening at the height of rush hour.She is expected to survive her injuries, Portland police said Saturday.Stephanie Bennifield, 42, of Gresham, crashed into the back of a semi-truck around 5:15 p.m. Friday, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson of Portland police. Bennifield suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.The truck driver, Gurprit Singh, 36, of Kent, Wash., stayed at the scene and was cooperating with investigators, Simpson said.Traffic was impacted for several hours. Drivers were being diverted to Interstate 405.
