Biggsville, IL : Canton woman dies in a two-vehicle crash on Illinois 116 in Henderson County on Friday afternoon, August 12, 2016

A Canton woman died Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Illinois 116 in Henderson County.

Illinois State Police said a 2002 Hyundai driven by Rebecca F. Cook, 55, Canton, was westbound on Illinois 116 about .55 mile east of County Road 1500E when she lost control of her car about 3:25 p.m. The car traveled into the path of a semitrailer driven by Jerry Cokel, 65, Media, and Cook died from her injuries.

A state police news release indicated it was raining at the time of the crash. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The investigation is pending. State police, Henderson County Sheriff’s Department, Stronghurst fire and ambulance crews, Henderson County coroner and the Burlington, Iowa, Fire Department responded.
