woman involved in a January crash near Marissa and charged with a methamphetamine offense in federal court has been released from custody.

Mandy L. Hagen, 29, of Lenzburg, and nine other defendants face one count of conspiring to distribute a substance containing methamphetamine.

Judge Reona Daly of the southern Illinois district federal court agreed to release Hagen after Hagen agreed to adhere to certain conditions.

Hagen agreed to remain in custody at a halfway house, actively seek employment, remain in the southern Illinois district and participate in substance abuse therapy, among other conditions.

Hagen was one of five passengers — including her four children — in a 2013 GMC Acadia that crashed on Illinois north of Marissa in the morning hours of Jan. 17. One of the children, an 8-year-old boy, was thrown from the vehicle when it flipped onto its side in a field. Police said the boy was not wearing his seatbelt.

Defendants in the methamphetamine case include Garrick E.R. Recker, aka “Curtis Lowe,” 26, of Lenzburg; Paige M. Gleghorn, 26, of Sparta; Jeremy J. Humphries, 31, aka “Hump,” or “Slick,” of Tilden; and Derek L. Sumpter, 29, aka “Doucher,” of Cape Girardeau, Mo. A judge ordered Gleghorn remain in federal custody without bond. Recker, Sumpter and Humphries were also ordered to be held without bond pending jury trial.

Charges allege the defendants conspired to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine between 2016 and February 2017 in Perry, Randolph, Monroe and St. Clair counties.

Hagen’s attorney, John Clemons, could not be immediately reached for comment.

Also named as defendants in the case are Rodney V. Howie, Jordan P. Leggans, Starlet J. Howie, aka “Star Oettle” or “Star Miller,” Jeremy S. Copple and Daniel Dortch.

On the day of the crash, police said a 2011 Ford Escape hit the passenger side of a 2013 GMC Acadia after the Ford Escape driver, 36-year-old Lee A. Fosnock, ran a stop sign. Fosnock was cited for disobeying a stop sign, having no valid driver’s license and failing to properly secure a child in a restraint device, according to Illinois State Police.
