Decatur, TX : 5-vehicle crash shuts down highway on Thursday, August 31, 2017

A five-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon shut down the northbound lanes of U.S. 81/287 at Texas 114 in Rhome.
About 4:45 p.m. a man in a Dodge dually attempted to take the exit from northbound U.S. 81/287 to Texas 114 West. Rhome Police Officer Brody Brown said other vehicles waiting to turn onto 114 were backed up on the exit ramp and 287.
Brown said the dually driver did not realize those cars were in line to exit. When he realized traffic was stopped, he swerved left but still clipped a passenger car near the back of the line. He hit three more vehicles in the line before bouncing off the last one and rolling the dually twice.
Brown said no one was injured. The driver’s name was not available on scene.
