Fourchon, LA : Man dies in head-on collision with 18-wheeler in Lafourche Parish on Monday afternoon, June 23, 2014
A Cut Off resident is dead after he collided head-on with an 18-wheeler Monday afternoon in Lafourche Parish.
The crash happened at about 2:30 p.m. on Hwy. 3090 just south of Hwy. 1 in Fourchon.
According to Trooper Evan Harrell, a spokesman for Louisiana State Police, Cut Off resident Patrick Terrebonne, 48, was driving his Ford F-150 truck southbound on Hwy. 3090 when, for unknown reasons, he lost control and crossed the center line and into oncoming traffic.
Quint Marceaux, 39, tried to avoid Terrebonne in his 18-wheeler, but he collided head-on with him.
Terrebonne was wearing a seat belt, but he was pronounced dead on the scene. Toxicology results are pending.
Marceaux, who was also wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries. He passed a blood alcohol test.
The crash is under investigation. No charges have been filed.
Traffic was closed for several hours as crews cleared the scene.
