Gates, NY : Truck driver injurd in a tractor-trailer crashes on Rochester-area highway on Monday, October 13, 2014
A truck driver is recovering from minor injuries suffered when his tractor-trailer crashed on a highway bridge outside Rochester, leaving his cab dangling over the side of the span.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office tells local media that the truck was exiting Interstate 490 around 1 p.m. Monday when it crashed on Interstate 390's northbound ramp in the town of Gates, just west of Rochester.
The rig overturned and the cab was left handing front-end down over the side of the bridge.
Dozens of firefighters worked for nearly two hours to rescue the driver and lower him to the ground.
Officials say the driver was treated at a Rochester hospital for minor injuries.
Traffic backups near the I-390 and I-490 interchange lasted for hours.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
