A woman was killed Thursday night after the motorized scooter she was driving collided with two cars in West Springfield.
The victim has not yet been identified.
According to Sgt. Hubert Rees of the West Springfield Police Department, the woman was traveling south on Route 5 at approximately 8:30 p.m., when she collided with two separate vehicles that were attempting to turn off of Elm St. The scooter was "clipped" by one vehicle before it collided with a minivan.
The operator of the scooter was trapped under the minivan during the collision, according to Rees.
The scooter was broken into a number of pieces during the crash, and police could be seen inspecting it at the scene.
Traffic was rerouted onto Elm St. on the southbound side of Route 5 while authorities investigated.
