Lansing, MI : Addison Township woman dies after head-on crash on Saturday, 29th October 2016
A 25-year-old Addison Township woman died over the weekend in a serious crash in northern Oakland County, Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies report.
Officers were called by Macomb County Sheriff’s dispatchers at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, to assist with a fatal accident reported near the Macomb and Oakland County border near Romeo and Townsend roads in Addison Township.
Deputies arrived and learned that a 39-year-old Romeo man driving a white 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was traveling eastbound on Romeo Road and was attempting to pass slower cars in a marked no passing zone.
When the driver tried to pass another vehicle, he crossed double yellow lines on the roadway and hit a red 2003 Chevrolet Blazer that was traveling in the opposite direction head on.
Both vehicles became overturned after colliding, and a 25-year-old woman driving the Blazer died.
The driver of the Silverado had to be extricated from his vehicle and was taken a short time later to McLaren Oakland Hospital with serious injuries.
Crash investigators from the Michigan State Police will be following up with further investigation, according to officials.
