Oklahoma City, OK : A 3-year-old was hit and killed by a car in a McDonald's parking lot on Wednesday, July 9, 2014

A 3-year-old child is dead after being hit by a car in McDonald's parking lot, police say.

A woman in her early 20s was driving in the parking lot at Northwest Expressway and Council Road when she turned a corner and was distracted by another car. She then hit a 3-year-old who broke free from their mother as they were crossing the parking lot. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

The mother, who is in her 30s, and her 4-year-old child both suffered minor injuries. Paramedics said she was taken to Baptist Hospital.

The medical examiner was called to the scene. The evidence in the case will be handed over to the district attorney, who will decide whether to press charges in the case.
