Warren, MN : man killed in head-on collision on Highway 1 on Thursday, 20th October 2016

A 24-year-old man died after he collided head on with a tractor-trailer Thursday.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, David S. Knutson, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer east on Minn. Highway 1, about 10 miles east of Warren just before 7 a.m. His vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a semi driven west by Mark O. Aune, 46, of Thief River Falls, according to the sheriff’s statement.

The semi went into a cornfield and the Blazer remained on the highway.

Knutson was transported to Sanford Health in Thief River Falls, where he was pronounced dead. Aune received minor injuries.

Knutson’s body was taken to the medical examiner in Grand Forks for an autopsy. The crash is under investigation.

The sheriff’s office, Minnesota State Patrol, Warren Fire Department and North Valley and Thief River Falls ambulance services responded to the crash.
