Springfield man involved in two crashes

A Springfield man was in fair condition Sunday at Memorial Medical Center after allegedly leaving the scene of a crash at Ninth Street and Enos Avenue, then becoming involved in a second crash in the 3200 block of Sangamon Avenue.

George R. Wehner, 48, of Springfield reportedly was westbound on Enos Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Penny Lynn Snyder, 36, of Springfield was northbound on Ninth Street. She told police she had a green light, and Wehner’s vehicle sped through the intersection and struck her car.

Wehner did not stop and continued westbound on Enos, police said. Officers found him a short time later at the second crash on Sangamon.

They were unable to question him because of his injuries.
Wehner was ticketed for leaving the scene of a crash and driving without insurance for the crash at Ninth and Enos, according to a crash report. Lynn was uninjured, but her car had to be towed.
No additional information was available about the second crash.
