CLEAR SPRING, MD : At least one seriously hurt in I-70 rollover crash; eastbound lanes closed near St. Paul Road on Friday, 21st February, 2020
A Hancock woman was seriously hurt Friday morning when her car struck an SUV and overturned on Interstate 70 near St. Paul Road, according to Maryland State Police.
Penny Sue Upton, 45, was flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore following the 8:05 a.m. crash that temporarily closed the eastbound lanes, authorities said.
A passenger in Upton's 2011 Chevrolet Impala, Brittany Upton, 19, also of Hancock, was taken to Meritus Medical Center east of Hagerstown for treatment of minor injuries, police said in a news release.
Neither of their conditions were immediately available.Police said the crash occurred at the 22 mile marker when Upton's car made an unsafe lane change and struck a 2003 Saturn Vue driven by Kayla Stanley, 30, of Martinsburg, W.Va. Upton's car then went out of control and overturned off the right side of the road, the release said.
