ELLICOTTVILLE, NY : Fatal crash occurs in Ellicottville on April, Sunday 9th 2017

A car accident early Sunday morning in Ellicottville killed an elderly Niagara Falls man.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office reported the crash, which occurred at 5:15 a.m. Sunday on Route 219, on Monday evening. According to the sheriff's office, Ryan M. Holmes, 21, of Henrietta, was driving south when he crossed the center line into the northbound lane and struck the northbound vehicle of Charles M. West, 90, of Niagara Falls. Holmes was driving a 2008 Honda pickup truck and West was driving a 2009 Ford pickup.

West was pronounced dead on-scene, while Holmes was transported to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.
