Lincoln, RI: Police investigate tractor trailer rollover crash on 295 N on Wednesday, July 22nd 2015

Rhode Island State Police are investigating after a wrong-way driver caused an accident on 295 North in Lincoln.The accident happened around 1:15 p.m. when a vehicle traveling on a ramp from Route 146 South to Route 295 North traveled southbound in the northbound lane.A tractor trailer traveling on 295 N attempted to avoid the wrong-way driver, and struck another vehicle before rolling over and blocking the left two lanes of travel. 40,000 pounds of laundry detergent from the trailer was strewn across the roadway.The operator of the tractor trailer was not injured. The driver and passenger of the vehicle struck were sent to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries.The accident remains under investigation.
