Minden, NE : Kearney man killed in crash near Minden on Sunday evening, May 22, 2016

A Kearney man died near here Sunday evening when the sport-utility vehicle he was driving ran off a gravel road and ended up in a reuse pit, the Nebraska State Patrol reported.

Christopher Burns, 35, died at the scene of the one-vehicle crash one-half mile west of Nebraska Highway 10 on O Road. That location is about two miles north of Minden.

A State Patrol spokeswoman said Burns had been driving a 2008 Pontiac Torrent when the vehicle left the road, rolled and landed in the reuse pit. The crash was reported to authorities at 7:13 p.m.

A tow truck pulled the vehicle from the water later Sunday night.

NSP and the Kearney County Sheriff’s Office responded to the emergency call.
