Lewes, DE : 21-year-old Isidro Bautista-Rosales dead after fatal crash on Route 9 in Lewes on Saturday morning, March 14, 2015
State police are investigating a crash near Lewes that killed a pedestrian early Saturday morning.
According to police, the crash happened around 12:45 a.m. That's when 34-year-old Harbeson man Nicholas Lank was traveling eastbound on the Lewes-Georgetown Highway, just east of Nassau Commons Boulevard. 21-year-old Pittsville man Isidro Bautista-Rosales had reportedly exited his vehicle that was parked on the westbound shoulder.
Police say an for unknown reasons, Bautista-Rosales began walking across the roadway, when the Malibu struck him. According to reports, the impact caused him to land in the eastbound shoulder while the car was able to come to a controlled stop.
Bautista-Rosales was transported by EMS to Beebe Healthcare where he was pronounced dead, according to investigators.
We're told Lank, who was properly restrained, was uninjured in the crash.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation into this incident.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor and no charges have been filed.
