NORWALK, CT : Woman crawls from wreck after SUV leaves East Rocks Road on Friday, January, 19th 2018

East Rocks Road was closed for a while late Friday after a woman’s SUV left the roadway and crashed into the trees about 30 feet down a hill.

Police and firefighters responded near 66 East Rocks Road about 11 p.m. to the single-vehicle crash.

There, they found the Lincoln Navigator about 30 feet from the road, and about 15 feet below road grade, where it had struck a tree. The SUV remained upright, and the woman, in her 50s, had crawled from the wreck and was laying in a yard.

Norwalk Deputy Fire Chief Edward Prescott said firefighters helped Norwalk Hospital paramedics get the woman into an ambulance. He said her injuries did not appear life-threatening.

East Rocks Road was closed for a short time while the car was removed and police investigated the cause of the crash.
