A 15-year-old sophomore who attended Waverly High School was killed and two other people were injured Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash in Sarpy County.
Authorities identified the girl who was killed as Alexandra Linscott. She died at the scene of the crash, which occurred around 9:10 p.m. at Riha Road and Nebraska Highway 50, just north of Louisville and the Platte River.
Cory Worrell, superintendent of the Waverly school district, said the district’s response team was available Thursday for students or staff who needed extra support. Counselors will continue to be available “in the days to come,” he said
“The school community extends our heartfelt sympathies to family and friends,” Worrell said in a written statement. “Alexandra has attended our district since kindergarten and involved herself in many activities.”
The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office said both vehicles involved in the crash were white Ford Fusions.
Sarpy County Deputy Attorney Ben Perlman said alcohol was suspected to be a factor in the crash for the driver of the northbound vehicle.
The northbound vehicle was driven by 22-year-old Paige Seaton of Omaha. The southbound vehicle was driven by 48-year-old Elisa Linscott of Eagle, Neb. Alexandra Linscott was a front-seat passenger in Elisa Linscott’s car.
Seaton was taken to Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy in serious condition. Elisa Linscott was taken by a medical helicopter to the Nebraska Medical Center in critical condition, according to rescue squad personnel at the scene.
According to court documents, Seaton is on probation after pleading guilty to driving under the influence in Douglas County.
The crash remains under investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Elisa Linscott remained in critical condition late Thursday night.
