Teen killed after semi he's working on falls on Portland Oregon
A 17-year-old mechanic was killed Wednesday night when the semi-truck he was working on fell on him, according to the Portland Fire Bureau.He has been identified by police as Nikolay Kozhokar.
The man was working on the vehicle at a truck repair facility at 13552 N.E. Whitaker Way when a jack or hydraulic lift failed. The semi then fell on the man, crushing him.
The worker was apparently trying to change a tire on the semi at the facility that belongs to O&V Transport when the accident happened at about 8 p.m., according to a Portland Fire Bureau spokesman.
Police spent the evening interviewing people at the business who saw what happened.
Family and friends of the young man who was killed gathered at the business distraught over the fatal accident.
According to state records, the privately-owned company has fewer than 10 employees.
Since the accident happened at a workplace, Oregon OSHA took over the investigation on Thursday morning. OSHA investigators were expected to be at the business Thursday morning to interview employees.
