BEACHWOOD, OH : Two carjackings after crashes reported in Beachwood on Tuesday, November 29th, 2016
Beachwood Police are on the hunt for suspected carjackers, who victims said stole their cars after first rear-ending them.
The first happened Tuesday night just after 7 p.m. near the intersection of Belvoir Boulevard and Somerset Drive. A woman said two men in a dark-colored SUV tapped her rear bumper. When she got out to exchange information, one of the men took off in her Toyota Camry. The car was recovered nearby.A nearly identical crime was reported later that evening near 27100 Cedar Road. That time, a woman was forced out of her Mercedes C28. The crook got away with a cell phone, iPad, cash, checkbooks and credit cards.
The suspect descriptions are vague. Police said both streets offer thieves easy getaways and urged people to be aware of their surroundings.
“If you have any questions at all about what is occurring right now or you feel like you’re in danger, by all means, it is acceptable to just drive to the police station,” Capt. Gary Haba said.
Police have not recovered the Mercedes. They’re worried it could be connected to a string of other recent carjackings in Northeast Ohio.
