Motorcyclist critically injured in North Port crash

A Venice man is in critical condition after police said he and another motorcyclist weaved through oncoming traffic on Toledo Blade Boulevard.

Craig L. Fox, 24, of 444 Shamrock Boulevard, was flown by medical helicopter to Blake Regional Trauma Center after he lost control of his bike, entered a parking lot and was ejected from the motorcycle at about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The North Port Police Department said numerous witnesses reported that Fox and another person on a motorcycle were driving erratically.

At one point, both motorcycles were allegedly traveling toward oncoming traffic. Shortly after that, Fox crashed his motorcycle near the 1600 block of Toledo Blade Boulevard.

Fox was not wearing a helmet, police said.

The other motorcyclist left the scene before police arrived and has not been identified
