Fort Wayne, IN : I-69 crash leaves female critical on April, Monday 10th 2017

A vehicle crash along Interstate 69 late Monday has left a motorist in critical condition, according to police.

Officers responded to the incident about 11:30 p.m. at the 314 mile marker where witnesses reported a guardrail had been struck creating a traffic hazard.

Police found an unconscious female driver inside the vehicle down an embankment. A crew had to cut the person from the vehicle, which had extensive damage, they said.

Paramedics took the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.

Officers believe the person was driving north on I-69 when she lost control and crashed into the guardrail. Northbound traffic was closed in the area for more than an hour, reopening about 3:30 a.m.
