Meade County, SD : Two men dead after vehicle accidents on Sunday morning July 27th 2014

Two men died recently in single-vehicle accidents in Meade County and Newcastle, Wyo.

On Sunday, Steven Daniel Bruce, 60, of Fountain, Colo., died after the 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup he was driving left the road on a curve and rolled into the ditch 14 miles south of state Highway 34 on New Underwood Road, according to the Meade County Sheriff's Office.

Bruce, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, the sheriff's office said. The rollover accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The second fatality occurred last Wednesday approximately 15 miles east of Newcastle on U.S. Highway 85.

In that crash, witnesses reported that a 2004 Lexus SUV driven by William Cruzen, 25, of Ofallon, Ill., was traveling south at 100 mph in a 65-mph zone when he lost control of the vehicle that wound up rolling in the ditch, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Cruzen, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that happened around 6 p.m. Wednesday at mile post 245.

The traffic fatality was the 76th this year on Wyoming roads, according to the highway patrol.
