Janesville,WI : Janesville man dies in crash on June, Tuesday 13th 2017

A 35-year-old Janesville man died when the car he was driving hit a tree west of Janesville on Tuesday morning, the Rock County Sheriff's Office reported.

The man was identified later Tuesday as Travis A. Christophersen.

The crash occurred around 11 a.m. near Highway 11 and Kessler Road, according to the news release.

Christophersen was pinned in the car. Janesville firefighters extricated him and took him to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville, where he was later pronounced dead as a result of injuries suffered in the crash, according to the release.

The car was traveling east on Highway 11 when it veered across the road and into the ditch on the westbound side of the highway, traveling about 300 feet before hitting the tree, according to the release.

The crash remained under investigation Tuesday.
