Lee County , FL : One man was killed another person was injured after fatal Crash Caused by Improper U-turn on Saturday night , January 31st 2015

Troopers say Stewart Hawley, 55, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana was heading north on State Road 865 (San Carlos Boulevard) in a Ford pickup nearing the Isle of Palms Drive just after nine Saturday night.

Hawley then attempted a U-turn to head south on San Carlos Boulevard. Edward Cunningham of Cape Coral was traveling also north with a passenger, Laurie Almy also of the Cape, in a 2012 Harley Davidson FLHX when the truck turned in front of Cunningham.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers say Cunningham tried to avoid the collision but the motorcycle skidded 16 feet and hit the rear of the pickup.

Cunningham died at the scene. His passenger was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital where she is in serious condition.

Hawley was cited for making an improper U-turn. He was not injured.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
