Wells, ME : 55-year-old Sanford man killed when car hits tree in Wells on Tuesday, June 28, 2016

Police say a 55-year-old Sanford man was killed in a single-car crash in Wells.

The crash happened around 11:40 a.m. Tuesday. Police say Peter Webber was traveling east toward U.S. Route 1 when the car drifted off the road and hit a tree. The impact caused the vehicle to roll over onto the roadway.

Police say attempts to save Webber were unsuccessful. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
