Bellingham, WA : A Bellingham school bus is involved in a crash on Monday afternoon, July 21, 2014
No one was seriously hurt in a four-vehicle crash that included a Bellingham school bus Monday afternoon, July 21, on Interstate 5 near the Meridian Street exit.
A woman from North Vancouver, B.C., Lila Griffith, 82, had been paying attention to signs — not the road — around 12:30 p.m. as she exited northbound I-5, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Mark Francis.
On the off-ramp her Nissan Ultima crashed into the back of a Ford Focus, which lurched into the back of a Honda Accord, which lurched into the back of a Bellingham School District bus carrying two disabled children aged about 13, Francis said. They weren't hurt; neither was the 60-year-old driver or a second adult on the bus.
A husband and wife from Bellingham in the Ford Focus suffered minor chest injuries from their seatbelts. But they didn't need to go to the hospital.
Troopers cited Griffith for following the Ford too close.
The school bus was driven from the scene.
