Albany, NY : Bystanders rush to rescue woman trapped in burning car after fiery 10-car crash on Thursday, 25th August, 2016
The incident took place on August 25 on a highway in the town of Binghamton, New York, and surprisingly, no one was killed.
Dash camera video uploaded to Liveleak shows the crash and following chaos, with a woman pulled from a burning car by other motorists at the scene.
One bystander had a fire extinguisher handy, which proved to be crucial in fighting back the flames long enough for the woman to be saved.
WBNG reported that 10 people were taken to hospital, with two suffering serious injuries.
Binghamton Assistant Fire Chief Mark Whelan told Action News that without the strangers' help, the woman almost certainly would be dead.
"Prior to us getting there, two passersby smashed the window of her car and got her out of it," he said.
