Sacramento, CA : Motorcyclist dies in Encanto freeway crash on Wednesday, March 16th 2017
A Motorcyclist died in a crash followed by two more collisions on state Route 94 in the Encanto area late Thursday night, the California Highway Patrol said.
The force of the impact threw the rider, ripped the Yamaha motorcycle in half and touched off an engine fire.The rider’s name was not released. He was identified by the CHP as a 21-year-old Spring Valley resident.
Witnesses reported about 11:15 p.m. that the motorcycle had crashed into the concrete center divider of eastbound freeway lanes between Kelton Road and Federal Boulevard, the CHP said.
The bike caught fire moments later.
Also within moments, two pickups and a sedan had crashed into each other in the left lane near the motorcycle. The sedan driver was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, the CHP said.
The two left freeway lanes were closed for several hours until the vehicles were towed away and debris was cleaned up.
